Alberto Contador arrived in San Luis, Argentina, on Friday, January 20, ready to begin his 2012 season.
After landing in Buenos Aires, he was received by the chairman of Argentina’s Olympic Committee, Gerardo Werthein. Alberto then switched airports in order to travel to the interior of the country. Minister of Sport Celia Sánchez, as well as a knot of reporters and some enthusiastic fans – including a very young, chubby one! – welcomed him at the airport in San Luis.
Contador is in Argentina as the star attraction in the VI Tour de San Luis (January 23-29), the first race on his 2012 calendar. The seven-stage event includes two summit finishes and a individual time trial.
The 2012 kit for the Spanish national teams was introduced in Barcelona on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. The chamipions’ outfit, by Inverse, is not the version that will be worn by the Olympic team in London.

If you like mountains and the north of Spain – you do, don´t you? – you´re going to like the route for this year´s Vuelta a España (August 18 – September 9).
Alberto Contador and the Saxo Bank team continued their winter training camp in idyllic Gran Canaria today.
Contador is pleased with the venue and quality of training. He commented this afternoon, “It’s a lovely island, it´s a perfect island for being able to train. The weather – it’s perfect, twenty-odd degrees, it’s ideal. And then the terrain is winding, it allows you to do good work. Then again, it has incredible climbs like Pico de las Nieves. It´s amazing for training.”
